Ultimately, Cowdery’s second copy came to be known as the “Printer’s Manuscript,” and Joseph instructed that the Original and Printer’s Manuscripts never be in Grandin’s print shop at the same time. 40 As a final precaution, Joseph ordered that anyone carrying manuscript pages between the Smith farm and the printing office not travel alone.
